EU's slowest justice system in Greece

Greece stands out as the country with the longest waiting period for a case to be concluded among the European Union countries. While the average time to conclude a case in Greece is 1,711 days, the EU average is 455 days.

One of the most important reasons for delays is the inability of the justice system to adapt to the digital environment. It is noted that only 7 percent of the cases across the country are transferred to the electronic environment, which considerably extends the time for hearing the cases.

It is stated that the Ministry of Justice produces projects for the digitalization of the justice system in order to overcome these problems and it is aimed to approach the EU average in terms of time with the implementation of these projects.

But there is still a lot of work to be done.
