Drama: 2 kilos of cocaine found hidden in car bumper – driver arrested
Authorities in Drama, northern Greece, have arrested a foreign national after discovering over 2 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside the bumper of his vehicle.
Coordinated Police Operation
The arrest took place on Friday afternoon on the National Road of Nevrokopi–Drama as part of a coordinated operation by the Narcotics Division of the Crime Investigation Department of Drama, assisted by the Public Safety Unit and the Kato Nevrokopi Police Department.
Police had received intelligence regarding the suspect’s involvement in drug trafficking. During the operation, officers stopped the suspect’s car and conducted a thorough search with the assistance of VERA, a narcotics detection dog.
Seizure Details
Inside the front bumper of the vehicle, police found a nylon package containing 2 kilograms and 39 grams of cocaine, carefully hidden to avoid detection.
In addition to the drugs, officers also confiscated:
- A sum of cash,
- One mobile phone, and
- The vehicle used for transportation of the narcotics.
Legal Proceedings
The suspect was taken into custody and will be brought before the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Drama. The Crime Investigation Department of Drama is handling the preliminary investigation.
This seizure is considered a significant success for local law enforcement, disrupting a potential drug trafficking route in the region.
