Changes to the AMKA for everyone in a few days
In a few days, the Social Security Number (AMKA) will be linked to a unique, certified telephone number as part of a wide-ranging digital reform.
The new procedure aims to improve transparency and safety in medical services. With this change, citizens will be able to electronically confirm the execution of prescriptions and report irregularities, such as illegal charges or prescriptions issued without their consent.
This initiative, in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Registry, supports the full transition of EOPYY to digital operations, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of health services.
According to the director of EOPYY, Theano Karpodini, the interconnection with the National Telecommunications Registry will be completed by the end of January 2025. Citizens will be able to use their certified number to confirm prescriptions and file complaints with a "click" if they find irregularities.
The aim is to enhance transparency and safety in health services and make it easier for patients to follow their medical treatment.
Universal implementation of OTP More specifically, in the context of the digital transformation of EOPYY, the universal use of OTP (One-Time-Password) in the execution of consultations will be implemented in 2025.
The Agency wants the mandatory use of OTP during the execution of electronic consultations to confirm the physical presence of the beneficiary when receiving the service or product.
At the same time, real-time checks will be carried out at the time of the opinion on special dietary preparations (SEDs), catheters and patches. The aim is to limit the possibility of overcharging or misleading claims for financial gain. Also, with this digital tool, the EOPYY management is attempting to ensure that available resources are used for the actual needs of patients, improving the management of the healthcare budget.
