GSEE calls for 24-hour strike on November 20
The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) has announced a 24-hour general strike for Wednesday, November 20. According to a statement issued following Monday’s plenary session, discussions focused on tackling inflation, rising rental and housing costs and restoring Collective Labor Law.
The GSEE emphasized that, “ given the government's failure to take substantial measures to address these pressing issues affecting private sector workers and instead implementing policies that exacerbate their problems, the decision was made to call for a general strike”.
According to GSEE, "the government is unable to implement policies that strengthen the purchasing power of workers, which has decreased by 8% since 2019."
