400-year-old mosque minaret was collapsed
The cone of the minaret of the historical Aslan Pasha Mosque was destroyed by the severe wind in the city of Ioannina.
According to information obtained, the top of 400-year-old mosque minaret was collapsed by severe wind. It was reported that the damage in the minaret is not an obstacle to museum activities and the restoration works for repairing the collapsed roof in the storm would be initiated as soon as possible.
Arslan Pasha Mosque which is located in Ioannina, in the north part of Greece was built by Arslan Pasha in 1618. The mosque, one of the most remarkable Ottoman monuments in Ioannina with its architecture and stone walls, is used today by the Municipality of Ioannina as Ethnography Museum.
The state destroys Ottoman historical monuments
In Greece, the state systematically destroys historical monuments such as mosques, baths and bridges. Most of the monuments are left to disappear. Or uses it as a museum and warehouse with different excuses. As a result of the researches, it shows that most of the Ottoman monuments in the city of Thessaloniki were destroyed.
