1.100 earthquakes in Cyclades

Another five earthquakes were recorded early on Wednesday in the sea area between Amorgos and Santorini, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.

The "strongest" of these earthquakes, measuring 5 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 03:14, some 24 kilometers south-southeast of the community of Arkesini in Amorgos, according to the same source.

This was followed by four other light earthquakes, measuring 4, 4.6, 4 and 4.1, respectively at 03:35, 04:14, 04:18 and 04:23, in the sea area, at a distance of between 20 and 25 kilometers south of the same area.

From February 1 to Wednesday, over 1,100 earthquakes have been recorded in the Cyclades region, the strongest of which was 5.3 on the Richter scale, summarized Kostas Papazachos, professor of seismology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
