New US LNG deals signed via Greece for Central and Eastern Europe
Atlantic SEE LNG Trade, a joint venture between AKTOR Group and DEPA Commercial, signed long-term agreements for the sale of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) with four countries in Central and Eastern Europe during a ministerial meeting on transatlantic energy cooperation on Tuesday.
The agreements were signed by Atlantic SEE LNG CEO Alexandros Exarchou with Albania’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Bulgaria’s state-owned BULGARGAZ, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Aluminij Industries and M.T. Abraham Group and Ukraine’s Naftogaz.
The deals were concluded on the sidelines of the “Transatlantic Gas Security Summit,” organized by the White House and the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), chaired by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. Greece was represented by Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, with a total of 22 countries participating.
In addition to the LNG contracts, a joint statement was signed to strengthen natural gas supply security across Central and Eastern Europe. Signatories included ministers and representatives from Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United States.
The agreements highlight Greece’s growing role as a regional LNG hub and the expanding transatlantic energy cooperation to diversify supplies and enhance energy security in Europe.
