Employment Subsidy Program for unemployed people aged 55 to 67 continues

The Employment Subsidy Program for unemployed people aged 55 to 67 in the public sector continues as normal with enhanced resources and increased positions, Ministry of National Economy and Finance said in an announcement on Thursday, denying rumours that it has allegedly been cut or interrupted.

The announcement stated that the program, while initially covering 10,000 unemployed, has been successively expanded both numerically and quantitatively in terms of the amount of aid, so that today - after the last recent amendment of the Joint Ministerial Decision on August 6, 2024 - it covers 26,500 unemployed.

The latest increase of 5,000 places has an additional budgetary cost of 156 million euros, while the cost of the overall program now stands at 626 million euros.
