Athens–Chengdu route via Istanbul
Sichuan Airlines has officially launched its new flight route connecting Athens to Chengdu via Istanbul, marking a significant step in boosting travel and economic ties between Greece and China.
An inauguration event was held at Athens International Airport (AIA), attended by Greek Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, who praised the development as “a bridge of culture and economy between East and West.”
“Sichuan Airlines’ decision to invest in this connection reflects its confidence in Greece as a dynamic, safe, and authentic tourist destination,” Kefalogianni said.
The ceremony was also attended by Michail Kefalogiannis, Chairman of the AIA Board of Directors, Ioannis Paraschis, AIA CEO and President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), along with Chinese Embassy representatives, Sichuan Airlines executives, and key figures from the tourism and business sectors.
The new route is expected to enhance bilateral tourism, business cooperation, and overall connectivity, as Greece continues to position itself as a key hub between Europe and Asia.
