Working together for the environment
A group of young people from Greece, Bulgaria and Türkiye met in Edirne. They came together for the environment. They cleaned the forest and collected the waste.
Within the scope of the European Green Belt Day Youth Festival organized by the Return to Nature Association in Edirne, young people from Türkiye, Bulgaria and Greece cleaned the “İzzet Arseven Urban Forest” and “Chicken Forest”.
Young people cleaning the forest under the coordination of the Head of the Return to Nature Association, Selçuk Aslan, also examined the bird species in the area.
Turkish, Greek and Bulgarian youth had the opportunity to visit Edirne's historical, touristic and natural beauties together.
The youth of the three countries also followed the seminars and information meetings held in the nature environment within the framework of the educational trip.
ATTENTION TO THE DESTROYED AREAS OF BIRDS
Explaining the European Green Belt Day Youth Festival, Selçuk Aslan said, "Our aim is to carry out bird watching and waste cleaning on the riverbanks here.
We would like to draw some attention to areas where bird habitats have been destroyed. In fact, as we get to know and observe these species, we can adopt a lifestyle in which we can live in harmony with them.
We organize this event together with 3 countries; Türkiye, Greece and Bulgaria. Our young friends from the countries on the other side of the river accompanied us. When we look at them, we still have a chance to observe the birds much more together.
When we came to the confluence of 3 rivers, we detected damage to the habitats of birds due to human activities.
In this event, we came together to observe them and to tell the young people in Türkiye about the nature conservation efforts in other countries.
After the event, participants from other countries and non-governmental organizations will give us information about their conservation efforts. Thus, our aim is to convey and share the experience of how we can live with other species and how we can observe them with the youth of the 3 countries participating in the event. Afterwards, we want to participate in similar activities abroad, by participating in their activities," he said.
