North Macedonia's Parliament has appointed Turkish Democratic Party (TDP) President Zulfikar Zeynula as State Minister following a nomination by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

In a statement, the TDP said Zeynula was elected with the support of a parliamentary majority during a plenary session, describing the appointment as an important step for the country, the Turkish community, and all citizens.

Background in security and crisis management

Born in 1987 in the village of Upper Banisa near Gostivar, Zeynula graduated from the Police Academy at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, specializing in security, public administration, and crisis management.

He began his political career in the TDP's youth wing and later held several senior positions within the party. He was elected to the Gostivar Municipal Council in 2017 and served as Acting Director of North Macedonia's Protection and Rescue Directorate between 2021 and 2024.

Elected TDP president in 2025, Zeynula also represented North Macedonia in several international forums on disaster response and civil protection.

In 2023, he took part in search-and-rescue operations following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye's Kahramanmaraş region. For his contribution, he was awarded the **Medal and Order of Distinguished Sacrifice** by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Zeynula speaks Turkish, Macedonian, Albanian, and English. He is married and has one daughter.
