Turkish becomes official language in North Mitrovica!
In the municipality of North Mitrovica, where the Serbian community predominantly resides in northern Kosovo, Turkish has been recognized as an official language. In today's council session in North Mitrovica municipality, the application made by Enis Kervan, a member of the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP), for the official recognition of Turkish in North Mitrovica was approved by the council with a majority vote.
Following the meeting, MP Kervan stated, "Today is a historic day for the Turks of Kosovo, it's our celebration. Kosovo said yes to Turkish. The Turkish language has been officially recognized in North Mitrovica. Personally, and on behalf of the party, I am very happy that we made such an initiative. Turks living in every corner of Kosovo will be under the protection of the KDTP. We will always make our presence felt. We are very happy with this development. This gift is very important for our community before the Kosovo Turks National Day on April 23."
"WE ARE PROUD TO BE TURKISH"
Thanking the North Mitrovica administration for their decision, Kervan said, "We are proud to be Turkish, and we will continue to keep Turkish alive in every corner of Kosovo."
Ergin Kani, the President of the KDTP Mitrovica Branch, also expressed their happiness in his statement, saying, "This is something we have wanted to do for a long time. The mayor of North Mitrovica, the council president, they all supported us, may God bless them."
