As the New Year approached, the city of Kakanj in central Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted its traditional “Qur’an Night” event.

Held in the Kakanj sports hall, the program featured recitations from the Qur’an by hafizes from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Turkey. Thousands of attendees gathered for the event, organized by the Kakanj Council of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prominent figures at the event included Enes Özsoy, muezzin of Istanbul’s Büyük Çamlıca Mosque, and Mustafa Güvenç, Religious Affairs Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo. During his speech, Güvenç emphasized the importance of reading, listening to, and understanding the Qur’an, as well as reflecting its teachings in daily life.

The evening also included a performance by a choir of students from the Kakanj Islamic Council, who sang traditional hymns, adding a spiritual and cultural dimension to the gathering.

The event highlighted the enduring significance of religious traditions in the region, particularly during the festive season.
