Posters calling for arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu displayed across Sarajevo
Posters reading “Benjamin Netanyahu is wanted for war crimes and genocide” were displayed in multiple locations across Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, drawing public attention in busy pedestrian and tourist areas.
The posters were placed in prominent locations such as Baščaršija and Ferhadija Street, both known for heavy foot traffic and high numbers of visitors. Many residents and tourists were seen stopping to photograph the displays.
Posters Refer to International Criminal Court
The posters, reportedly put up by a group of human rights activists, feature a photograph of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the top, the text reads “International Criminal Court,” while the lower section states:
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is wanted for war crimes and genocide.”
The displays sparked visible interest among passersby, with images of the posters quickly circulating on social media.
ICC Arrest Warrant Background
On November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced that it had issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
Under Articles 86 and 87 of the Rome Statute, ICC member states are obligated to cooperate with the Court in enforcing arrest warrants. According to Article 89, if Netanyahu or Gallant were to travel to any ICC member country, that state would be required to detain and transfer them to The Hague.

Since October 8, 2023, Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of more than 71,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom were women and children. Over 171,000 people have been injured, and approximately 90 percent of civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, according to reported figures.
