Tirana hosts first “Turkish is my choice” children’s festival
The event was held at the conference hall of the Namazgah Mosque in Tirana, bringing together Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tirana Barış Ceyhun Erciyes, Yunus Emre Institute Albania Director Oğuzhan Şakoğlu, representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations, school administrators, teachers, students and parents.
Erciyes highlighted the strong state of relations between Türkiye and Albania, saying the two countries share longstanding ties.
Şakoğlu provided information about the “Turkish is my choice” project and its objectives, explaining that the festival was organized to encourage students learning Turkish at participating schools to use the language in communication and bring them together through Turkish.
The program featured a performance of “Giant Shadows: Karagöz and Hacivat” by Turkish artists Suat Veral and Merve İlken.
Students also took part in the program with Turkish-language songs and compositions they had prepared, while a sema performance was also presented.
The Yunus Emre Institute continues to implement the “Turkish is my choice” project at three schools in Albania.
