TIKA to transform the house of Naim Süleymanoğlu into a museum

Turkish Weightlifting Federation President Talat Ünlü and the accompanying delegation visited TIKA Vice President Dr Mahmut Çevik. After the visit, it was decided that the house of former weightlifter and pocket herculean Naim Süleymanoğlu in Bulgaria will be turned into a museum by TIKA.

President of Turkish Weightlifting Federation Talat Ünlü and the accompanying delegation visited Dr. Mahmut Çevik, Vice President of Turkish Cooperation Coordination Agency (TIKA). President of Turkish Weightlifting Federation Mr Ünlü was accompanied by National Coach Muharrem Süleymanoğlu, the older brother of Naim Süleymanoğlu, who was selected as the best athlete in the world, broke 47 world records, won 6 European and 7 world championships, and won 3 Olympic gold medals; former national weightlifter Taner Sağır, 2004 Olympic champion; and former national weightlifter Fedail Güler, 1994 World champion.

During the visit, developments in the field of sports in general and weightlifting in particular were discussed. Ünlü, together with the accompanying delegation, exchanged views with Dr Çevik on the activities of the federation and areas of joint work.

NAIM SULEYMANOGLU'S HOUSE WILL BE A MUSEUM

After the negotiations, the decision to turn the house of Naim Süleymanoğlu, the Pocket Hercules, in Bulgaria into a museum was announced.

The house where he was born and spent his childhood in Mestanli, Bulgaria, will be transformed into a museum by TIKA. The museum is planned to be opened in April 2024.
