Greece and Albania signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) in Brussels on Thursday related to the EU’s Green Corridors initiative, in the presence of European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, on Thursday.

The Green Corridors aim to facilitate trade through sustainable practices. The MoC aligns with the National Road Map for the Facilitation of Trade, and focuses on electronic exchanges of data and the boosting of customs cooperation between the two countries, with an emphasis on reducing delays and on improving cross-border transactions.

The event was held by the European Commission and included representatives of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), and the Community of Transport and Customs Administrations of Albania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Italy and Greece.

Representing and signing for Greece, Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) Governor George Pitsilis said that “AADE’s presence highlights its active role in European initiatives of strategic importance and its contribution to facilitating trade, sustainable development, and strengthening regional interconnectivity, with a particular emphasis on Greece’s land borders.”
