Turkish Culture Week has officially begun, offering a series of events showcasing Turkish cultural heritage.

Organized under the patronage of the Turkish Embassy in Tirana and the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), the week was inaugurated with the “Leaves from Turkish Culture” exhibition at the Sotir Kolea Center of Albania’s National Library.

Strengthening historical ties between Türkiye, Albania

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gurcan highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between Türkiye and Albania. He emphasized that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Türkiye has emerged as a key player in global politics while preserving its historical and cultural legacy.

Gurcan also pointed out that Albania has become a rising economic star in the Balkans, thanks to its recent advancements and potential for economic collaboration.

Strategic partners and allies

Turkish Ambassador to Tirana, Tayyar Kagan Atay, called on attendees to participate in the upcoming events throughout Turkish Culture Week. Atay noted that Türkiye and Albania share a long history, describing them as strategic partners and allies.

He emphasized the importance of these cultural activities in further strengthening the bond between the two nations.Week filled with Turkish culture: Exhibitions and concerts
Oguzhan Sakoglu, Coordinator of the Yunus Emre Institute in Albania, shared that the exhibition features significant cultural and historical landmarks from Türkiye, including Anitkabir, the Bosphorus and Hagia Sophia.

Sakoglu explained that the event further underscores the strong ties between the two countries.

As part of the Turkish Culture Week, the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet performed “Pearls of Turkish Music” in Tirana, attracting a large audience. The same concert will also be performed tomorrow in the Albanian city of Durres.

In collaboration with Albania’s Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Turkish Culture Week will run until Sept. 15.

During this time, Albanians will have the chance to explore various aspects of Turkish culture.
