Bulgaria ranks second in EU for annual economic growth

Bulgaria recorded one of the strongest growth rates in the European Union during the second quarter of 2025, according to data released by Eurostat.
The country’s economy expanded by 0.9% quarter-on-quarter and by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, placing Bulgaria second among EU member states in terms of annual GDP growth. In the first quarter, Bulgaria had ranked fourth.
According to Eurostat’s seasonally and calendar-adjusted estimates, Bulgaria’s GDP for the April–June 2025 period reached €27.573 billion at current prices.
The highest annual growth in the EU was reported by Ireland (18%), followed by Bulgaria (3.4%), Cyprus (3.3%), and Croatia (3.2%).
