Starting January 1, 2025, border controls between Greece and Bulgaria will be abolished, following Bulgaria and Romania’s full accession to the Schengen Area.
With this new measure in place, it is expected that checkpoints along the Greece-Bulgaria border, including the Yanıköy (Nymfaia)–Makaz (Makaza) border crossing, will cease operations.
This development marks a significant step towards facilitating seamless travel and strengthening integration within the Schengen Zone.
