ICE agent fatally shoots woman during operation in Minnesota

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a 37-year-old woman during an enforcement operation in Minnesota on Wednesday, prompting sharply conflicting accounts from federal and local officials.

The woman, identified as Renee Nicole Good, was shot after allegedly attempting to strike officers with her vehicle, the Department of Homeland Security said, describing the agent’s actions as self-defense.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey disputed that account, saying video footage showed a reckless use of force, and called for a full investigation and for ICE agents to leave the city. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also rejected the federal version of events and said the state would ensure accountability.

Minneapolis police said Good was not the target of enforcement activity. The investigation is being handled by the FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
