Zeybek subits a parliamentary question on air pollution in Xanthi

NEW LEFT Party Xanthi MP Hüseyin Zeybek submitted a parliamentary parliamentary question regarding the air pollution that is effective throughout the country, including Xanthi.

Referring to the data published worldwide on the subject, New Left MP Zeybek said: "According to the results of the research, only 9% of the cities in 10 countries worldwide have clean air quality according to the criteria of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Our country Greece is also on this list. Cities with air pollution were also announced. According to the list (Patra, Athens, Rio, Thermi, Xanthi, etc.) are among these cities.

In the research, especially PM2.5, the smallest but most dangerous substance, was analysed. According to the statements of the World Health Organisation, millions of people worldwide die every year due to health problems related to air pollution, even this number is around 6.7 million."

Noting that the fact that Xanthi is also included in the said data is a matter of concern, MP Zeybek asked the relevant minister the following question:

"According to the report, it is worrying that Xanthi is among the regions where high levels of PM2.5 microparticles are observed.

What measures does the Government plan to take in order to reduce air pollution and the presence of these microparticles in the Xanthi region and to protect the health of the inhabitants?"
