Zeybek Calls for Immediate Commencement of Ketenlik Municipality Road Construction Project

Zeybek emphasized the project's importance for the residents of Mustafçova Municipality’s Ketenlik village:
Access Improvement: The road is essential for daily access to fields, livestock facilities, the village cemetery, and more.
Emergency Services: With a population of around 3,000, the road will facilitate the movement of ambulances, fire trucks, and other vehicles, especially in emergencies.
The project has been ready since 2014 but was inexplicably removed from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace regional projects by successive governments. In 2019, the Tsipras administration included the project in the Public Investment Program with a budget of €2.1 million, and a contract was prepared between the Ministry and the Municipality.
Since the New Democracy (ND) government took office, the project has faced indefinite delays. Zeybek noted the government's apparent indifference, citing numerous inquiries and unsatisfactory responses from ministers. In February 2020, an oral inquiry received an unconvincing reply from then Minister Achilleas Karamanlis, who acknowledged the project's inclusion in the 2019 Public Investment Program but failed to explain the delays.
Further inquiries in September 2020 and October 2021 sought updates on the project's status and reasons for continued delays. Responses indicated procedural steps but no tangible progress.
Zeybek now demands the government address why the project, despite being budgeted and contracted five years ago, remains unstarted. He inquires about updates on the revised project plan and the Ministry’s awareness and handling of this critical infrastructure.
Key Questions to the Ministry:
Why has the ND government not implemented the Ketenlik road project despite its inclusion in the Public Investment Program and the necessary funds being committed five years ago?
Are there updates on the revised project plan, and has the Ministry been informed? If so, when, and can the documents be provided?
What are the reasons for the continued delays, and does the government intend to resolve this issue and complete the project, which is vital for the daily lives of the Ketenlik residents?
Zeybek underscores the necessity of prioritizing the Ketenlik road project to improve the quality of life for the village’s residents.
