Young pianist from Xanthi Demirkan Baltacı wins award at Istanbul Piano Competition
Young talent from Xanthi, Demirkan Baltacı, made his mark in the field of music by earning an honorable mention award at the MüziST International Piano Competition held in Istanbul on April 19–20.
The competition took place at the Bahçeşehir MüziST Art Center and featured nearly 70 young pianists aged between 5 and 22. Baltacı, currently a second-year middle school student, participated in the 12–14 age category, where he performed two piano pieces in front of a jury.
Competing among 17 participants in his age group, Demirkan’s performance was met with praise, earning him the honorable mention.
His achievement was celebrated with joy by both his family and the community of Xanthi Minority School. Known for his dedication to music, Demirkan is already preparing for future competitions.
This young pianist from Xanthi is seen as an inspiring figure for other youth from the Western Thrace Turkish minority who have a passion for the arts.
