Yassıköy Municipality starts clean-up work in the disaster area
Yassıköy Municipality has started clean-up work in the disaster area where a large fire broke out last summer, spreading over a large area and affecting four villages.
As soon as the new administration of Yassıköy Municipality took office, they immediately started the cleaning of streams and canals in the fire-affected disaster area in the Yaka region. The cleaning work started in Narlıköy, one of the four villages affected by the fire. After the work is completed here, similar cleaning will be carried out in the other fire-affected villages.
Making a statement on the issue on his social media account, Mr Mehmet Arif, Deputy Mayor of Susurköy Region Department of Environment, Cleaning, Landscaping and Technical Services and Yassıköy Municipality Deputy Mayor in charge of Street Animals, stated the following
"After a short organisation process, with the permission of Allah and with the power given to us by you, our stream and canal cleaning works have started in Narlıköy, one of our four villages declared as a disaster area, and will continue. Necessary works will be carried out in our other villages as soon as possible..."
As it will be prepared, on 21 August 2023, a large fire broke out in the pine area between the villages of Çepelli and Büyük Müsellim, and then spread to a wide area, causing a large forest area to be burnt down, and damaging some herds of animals and houses in the settlements of Büyük Müsellim, Susurköy, Kozlardere and Narlıköy. After the fire, four villages were declared as disaster areas.
