World Turkish Coffee Day celebrated with event in Gümülcine
Held to highlight the centuries-old cultural heritage of Turkish coffee, the program took place on Friday from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Gümülcine Club (Leshi Komotineon).
Strong Participation from the Minority Community
Minority leaders and community members showed strong interest in the event, where Consul General Aykut Ünal and his wife, İlayda Ünal, welcomed guests at the entrance. The evening began with a musical performance, followed by remarks from Consul General Ünal, who addressed the significance of the day.
“Coffee is a culture in itself. Either a culture forms around coffee or it becomes a part of our cultural identity,” Ünal said, emphasizing the role of Turkish coffee in shared traditions. He also thanked the consulate staff and Gümülcine Club officials for their contributions to the organization of the event.
Coffee, Music, and Community Spirit
Guests enjoyed traditional Turkish coffee and desserts accompanied by music and conversation. A raffle was also held during the event, with three participants receiving gifts, while additional souvenirs were distributed to all attendees.
The annual celebration, organized by the Consulate General, once again attracted significant attention this year, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Turkish coffee culture in the region.
