Work stoppage announced by ADEDY at Xanthi Tax Office
The Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY) in Xanthi has announced a three-hour work stoppage scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., following a decision by the Panhellenic Federation of Tax Office Employees.
The protest action concerns plans to abolish regional tax offices (DOY) across Greece in favor of creating large centralized tax centers modeled after those in Athens and Thessaloniki.
In its announcement, ADEDY Xanthi emphasized that the move threatens the existing administrative structure in the regions and could undermine access to public services for citizens and local businesses.
The union is urging the public for understanding regarding potential delays in services during the stoppage and calls on citizens to support the effort to preserve regional tax offices, advocating for their reinforcement with additional staff and resources to improve service quality.
