Western Thrace Muftis Trampa and Şerif meet Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi and President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, together with Ibrahim Sherif, Mufti of Komotini, participated in the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Istanbul under the theme "The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World."
During the summit, both religious leaders had the opportunity to meet with the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
After the meeting, Mufti Trampa shared a public message emphasizing the significance of the encounter:
"Turkey hosted the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul as the term president. Together with Komotini Mufti Ibrahim Sherif, we participated in the summit under the theme 'The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World.' We had the opportunity to meet with the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hakan Fidan. His emphasis on the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace deeply pleased our community."
This meeting highlighted ongoing diplomatic and cultural support from Ankara for the Turkish Muslim minority in Greece’s Western Thrace region, reaffirming Türkiye’s continued interest in minority rights and regional cooperation through international platforms like the OIC.
