Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association organises an opening night
Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association, which brings together Fenerbahçe fans living in the provinces of Evros, Komotini and Xanthi in the Western Thrace region under the same roof in Komotini, continues to carry out its activities since the day it was officially established with a court decision in accordance with Greek law.
Due to the earthquakes in the motherland Türkiye, the lawsuits filed against the association as well as the fires that occurred in the Western Thrace region, the opening night could not be held.
In line with the decision taken by the Board of Directors, the opening night was held on Tuesday evening, 7 November 2023.
The night organised in Posidonio Hall in Komotini was attended by the fans as well as the executives.
Consul General of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Consul General Barış Çulha and his wife Ege Çulha, President of Friendship, Equality and Peace Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Deputy of SYRIZA Party in Rodopi Özgür Ferhat, President of Komotini Turkish Youth Union Sedat Hasan, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union Aydın Ahmet, Director of the Western Thrace Culture and Education Company Pervin Hayrullah, newly elected Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, opposition leader Hope List President Tarkan Multaza, Yassıköy Mayor Mümin Mümin and newly elected Mayor Caner İmam and municipal council members attended.
The opening night was attended by guests from motherland Turkey. Representing Fenerbahçe Sports Club, Board Member İlker Dinçay, Branch and Associations Manager Ramazan Erkan and Assistant Manager Alper Özcan did not leave the Fenerbahce fans from Western Thrace alone on the meaningful night.
The opening night programme started with the opening speech of Mümin Hasan, President of Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association. President Hasan stated the following in his speech:
"Dear Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Komotini, Dear Vice Consul, Dear Fenerbahçe Sports Club Manager and Director of Associations, Dear Member of Parliament, Dear Mayors and our guests who are devoted to Fenerbahçe, welcome.
It has made us happy to see people who have given their hearts to the yellow navy blue colours and who have given their hearts to different colours among us and to give this message of unity and solidarity.
12 years ago, we wanted to establish an association but we were not successful. 1 and a half years ago, I visited Fenerbahçe S.K. There, after Asil Bey's tea, smiling face and sincerity, after asking why we would like our Fenerbahçe Sports Club to have an association in Greece, we succeeded in establishing the largest association in Greece, which was established with 76 founding members and has 500 members as of now.
The biggest share in this success is the greatness of our Fenerbahce. The loyalty and devotion of the fans to our Fenerbahce, saying only Fenerbahce in good times and bad.
I can easily say that we will always be a unifying and peaceful association on this path we have set out on."
In the continuation of the programme, Fenerbahçe Sports Club Board Member İlker Dinçay and Consul General of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal took the floor and greeted Fenerbahce fans and other guests attending the night.
After the speeches, Vice President Emre Kamil read the messages sent by the Consul General of Turkey in Rhodes Salim Kircalıali and Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Ali Koç to the management and fans, who received an invitation from the association for the opening night but could not attend.
Afterwards, plaques were presented to some guests by the management.
In the last part of the programme, the singer "Buzuki Orhan" from Komotini took the stage.
