Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association faces closure proceedings again

The Prosecutor's Office of Rhodope filed a lawsuit for the closure of the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association.

A new lawsuit was filed against the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association, which has been targeted for a while and claimed to be against the national interests of Greece. After the prosecutor withdrew the lawsuit filed by the prosecutor in the past days, a new lawsuit was filed against the association.

The lawsuit filed against the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association, which was founded last year, caused great sadness and reaction among the minority individuals.

The statement made by the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association on the subject is as follows
"Dear Members, Compatriots,
As you will all remember, the closure process initiated against our Association was terminated at the session on 14 June 2023 when the prosecutor withdrew the appeal. However, unfortunately, we have learnt that a new lawsuit has been filed by the Prosecutor's Office of the First Instance of Rodopi within a very short time. The case in question is again a closure case targeting our association and the members who served as temporary management during the establishment of the association.

Notified to us on 19 June 2023, the reasons for this appeal are very similar to those of the previous appeal. There are two points that are different; firstly, the use of the term 'Western Thrace' in the name of our association is included as a reason for closure. Secondly, in this application, there are very heavy language and slanders against our association and the members of the temporary administration. For this, we want all our members and compatriots to know that, as the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association, everything necessary will be done before the justice and by applying to the existing legal remedies.

Although it is not necessary to repeat how loyal and devoted we are to the path of democracy, rights and law as an association and management, we would like to express that we have always walked on this path and will continue to do so. On the contrary, it is obvious that we are not the ones who violate the aforementioned principles and principles as well as fundamental human rights and are responsible for this. Therefore, no one should have any doubt that we, as the Association and the management, will continue to be beneficial to our members and the society with all our activities stipulated in our registered statute.

On this occasion, we sincerely congratulate your upcoming Eid al-Adha with our sincerest wishes and wish our members and compatriots many happy and healthy holidays."
