Warning: Only buses, taxis, and pedestrians allowed for pilgrims to Panagia of İskeçe – Fire Risk Index at “4” on Thursday
Authorities in İskeçe have announced special traffic restrictions for Thursday, August 14, 2025, due to the very high fire risk in the region. According to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued daily by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the fire danger index for İskeçe is at category 4 (“very high”).
Based on recommendations from the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination Body, the Fire Service Commander of İskeçe, and the Forestry Directorate, the ban on the movement of people and vehicles within the peri-urban forest of İskeçe will be in effect. However, due to the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, exceptions will be made for public transport (urban buses and taxis) and pedestrian pilgrims heading to the Panagia of İskeçe.
The KTEL Urban Buses will depart from the central square (Astron Center) with the following schedule:
Thursday, August 14, 2025 – 17:00 to 02:00
Friday, August 15, 2025 – 07:00 to 13:00
The frequency of bus services will depend on passenger capacity.
