"Uncle Şükrü" of Western Thrace commemorated at his grave
Founding president of Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association (BTTDD) Bursa Branch, businessman and "Uncle Şükrü" of Western Thracians in Bursa was commemorated on the anniversary of his death. A commemoration ceremony was organised for Şenkaya at his grave on the anniversary of his death.
BTTDD Bursa Branch board members, former state minister and businessman Cavit Çağlar, Şükrü Şankaya's son Şenol Şankaya, members of Şankaya and Çağlar families, prominent names of Bursa protocol, many relatives and loved ones attended the ceremony.
BTTDD Bursa Branch President Hasan Karaömer said in his speech: "Today, we commemorate the Uncle Şükrü of the whole Bursa and Balkan community with respect and gratitude. He and his family have always embraced our community and have never forgotten their hometown and fellow countrymen. Uncle Şükrü is a very valuable elder who cannot be replaced and whom we will always remember with gratitude. On behalf of our community, we once again wish him mercy from Allah and patience to his relatives and our community."
