Türkiye preparing to help fight the fires: Minority MP announces
After the forest fires that broke out in Evros on Saturday, the Turks of Western Thrace have also had a hard time, as new fires broke out today in the provinces of Rodopi and Kavala. While the homes, workplaces and cars of many Western Thrace Turks were burnt, some villages were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Türkiye is preparing to help fight the fires, which have been raging all day and which Greece has struggled to control on its own. MP Burhan Baran, who made a statement on the issue, announced that Türkiye's offer to help extinguish the fire had been accepted by Greece.
Baran posted the following statement on his social media account:
"Dear people, as a result of the meetings I have just held, I have learnt that our country Greece has accepted Türkiye's offer to help extinguish the fires in our region. Coordination work has started in this regard".
