Turkish Republic Day Reception program in Komotini changed due to threats
The date, place and time of the 'Turkish Republic Day Reception' to be held in Komotini have been changed due to threats to the hotel management.
On the occasion of the 99th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, the 29 October Republic Day Reception program that the Consulate General of Komotini planned to hold at the Cris&Eve Hotel in Komotini, between 19.00 and 21.00 on Friday, 28 October, has been changed due to threatening phone calls.
The Turkish Consulate General of Komotini celebrates the founding of the Republic of Türkiye with the Reception organized at the Cris&Eve hotel in Komotini for years.
ALLEGED THAT THERE ARE THREATS AND SECURITY PROBLEMS!
The Consulate General made an appointment from the hotel to make the reception program again in the same hotel this year. However, 3 days before the reception took place; the hotel officials went to the Consulate General of Komotini on October 26 and stated that the hotel and its employees received threatening calls so that the reception would not be held at the hotel this year.
Therefore the program planned to be held at the hotel has been cancelled due to a "security" problem. They also notified the Consulate General of the cancellation of the reception program in writing.
REPUBLIC DAY RECEPTION LOCATION AND TIME CHANGED
This year, 29 October Republic Day Reception will be held on Saturday, 29 October 2022 between 13.00 - 15.00 hours after the Cris&Eve hotel officials determined that the hotel and its employees received threatening calls for the reception and cancelled the reception program. The Republic Day Reception will be held in the garden of the Consulate General of Komotini.
İt is stated that, those who have been invited by the Consul General to participate in the reception will not be invited again for the new place and time. Invitations sent in advance will be valid.
