İskeçe (Xanthi) MP Hüseyin Zeybek presented a parliamentary question regarding the inclusion of the "Pomak" option as a religion in the registration form filled out by those who will serve for the military.
SYRIZA İskeçe MP Hüseyin Zeybek submitted a question to the Ministry of National Defense regarding the option of "Pomak" (Pomakos), which is not a religious belief but included in the section where they are obliged to declare their religion, as well as personal information, in the registration form filled by those who will serve the military, after the information he obtained from the sources of the Millet Newspaper. Zeybek's motion was also signed by Thodoris Dritsas, Head of Foreign and Defense Department (Tomearchis) of the SYRIZA Party.
"NOT INCLUDED ON ID CARDS BUT ON THE MILITARY REGISTRATION FORM AS AN OPTION"
In the parliamentary question, Zeybek emphasized that the religious belief is not stated in the identity of the citizens, but that the "Pomak" (Pomakos) option, which is not a religion, is included in the section where the military candidates are obliged to declare their religion in addition to their personal information in the registration form.
The following statements were included in the parliamentary question submitted by Deputy Zeybek for the "Pomakos" option of the Ministry of Defense, which resembles a trap:
“Depending on the year of birth, there is an obligation to create a registration form for the military information of the youth. Submission of this information form is made electronically on the website www.stratologia.gr, at any military service branch or Citizen Service Centers (KEΠ). Due to the coronavirus pandemic in recent years, another way to create the said information form is to give the possibility of each military candidate to do this transaction electronically with taxisnet codes.
In the form created electronically on the website www.stratologia.gr, each soldier has the option of 'Pomakos' in the section where he is obliged to declare his religion, as well as his personal information.
Since there can be no excuse for such unfortunate mistakes, especially when it comes to the religious beliefs of the citizens, the minister is asked:
- Since the term 'Pomak' is not a religious belief, do you intend to correct the error regarding the choice of religion in the military candidacy form?
- Since the religious beliefs of the citizens are not stated in their identities, how would you explain the complete registration of the religion of the military candidates?”
HÜSEYİN ZEYBEK: “THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE WILL ENSURE THIS EVENT TO ILLUMINATE”
Speaking to MİLLET on the subject, Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek said that they are following the incident.
Zeybek said, “First of all, we investigated this incident in line with the information you gave as Millet Newspaper, and we found that this statement, this option, exists on this website. We think that this event is a mistake. We believe this. Of course, we will understand whether this is so after the parliamentary question we gave. If that did not result in a mistake then we will look for something else behind it. Then there is a bad intention behind this event. Everyone knows that the phrase 'Pomak' is not a religious belief. I think that a serious ministry like the Ministry of Defense should not make such a mistake. Because the country is falling into a ridiculous situation. As a result of your noticing this event and sharing this determination with us, this event will be enlightened with the parliamentary question we presented".
