Turkish Minority representatives attend EU Conference on Democratic Participation of National Minorities
Representatives of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority participated in the conference “Democratic Participation of National Minorities in the EU.”
The delegation included Çiğdem Asafoğlu, President of the Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party; Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association; Pervin Hayrullah, General Director of the Cultural and Educational Company of the Minority; and Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, President of the İskeçe Turkish Union.
In a statement, the FEP Party announced:
“On September 4, within the framework of the conference ‘Democratic Participation of National Minorities in the EU’ organized in cooperation with the European Free Alliance (EFA), we held a series of meetings at the European Parliament with MEPs Ilhan Küçük, Pernando Barrena, and Diana Riba i Giner, as well as with Davyth Hicks, Secretary-General of the European Language Equality Network, and Eva Bidania Ibargutxi, Project Coordinator at the Coppieters Foundation.”
