Cengiz Ömer evaluated the latest developments in Türkiye-Greece relations and their reflections on Western Thrace in the Analysis program on 24 TV.

The latest developments in Türkiye-Greece relations discussed by Millet newspaper Editor-in-Chief Cengiz Ömer, experts and academics Coşkun Başbuğ and Prof. Dr. Esat Arslan in the Moderator Analysis program broadcast live on 24 TV.

Journalist Ömer answered questions about the latest tensions between Türkiye and Greece.

Ömer stated that the Mitsotakis government's trouble with the wiretapping scandal and corruption forced it to become fully usable by the United States, which it already had under its control.

Cengiz Ömer noted that Mitsotakis was accused by the opposition parties, of turning Greece into a US colony serving US imperialist ambitions and disgracing the country.

“Under these conditions, the government is turning into an apparatus under the complete control of the USA
Ömer noted that the fact that a government whose power is shaken is forced to surrender to the USA and the EU as salvation and that Turkish hostility is carried out as a state policy will force Greece to escalate the tension in its aggressive policy with Türkiye.

Line titles from the evaluations made:

Mitsotakis' anti-Turkish policy and his inability to manage the crisis well with Turkey cause tensions between Türkiye and Greece to continue.

The USA, taking advantage of the disagreements between Türkiye and Greece, is using Greece as an apparatus in their plans in the Mediterranean and the Middle East by provoking them.

The anti-Turkish policies of the government and the broadcast line of the Greek media in the same direction pose a threat to the Turkish Minority community with a population of 150,000 in Western Thrace. The government may further increase the pressure on the Western Thrace Turkish Minority in the upcoming period.

The situation of the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace is already very bad and is getting worse. There are still major violations in terms of minority and human rights.

Racist attacks have also increased recently. A fanatical group of 20 people attacked and hospitalized a Turkish Minority member in Xanthi recently. Threats of "dirty Turk, we'll kill you next time" show that the government and media's anti-Turkish policies are fanatizing society and forcing it to become a threat to public safety.

Cultural genocide is being committed in Western Thrace. The Turkish identity is denied and the "Greek Muslim" identity is imposed on the Minority. The decisions of the European Court of Human Rights about minority associations with the word "Turkish" in their names should be given legal status to them are rejected by the Greek Court of Cassation.

In Western Thrace, elected muftis and Turkish Minority journalists are unfairly sentenced to prison sentences. Journalists are called to the police station and threatened because they refer to the Minority as Turks in their news and articles.

Xanthi elects its new mufti on September 9. Greece is blocking the mufti election process, which is the right of the Turkish Minority. The Turkish Minority must do its best to do its part to elect its mufti.
