Traditional Fair brings joy at İskeçe Minority High School

The annual fair organized by the senior students of İskeçe Minority Middle and High School once again drew large crowds this year.
Held to raise funds for students’ educational trips, the event began on Friday, September 26, at the school’s Sports Complex and remained open to visitors for two days.
A wide variety of homemade foods and treats prepared by students and parents were sold. The fair attracted members of the local community, alumni, teachers, and representatives of minority institutions and organizations, all showing their support for the students. The gathering not only provided an opportunity for engagement with the younger generation but also showcased a strong spirit of solidarity.
Opening Ceremony and Messages of Support
The official opening took place on Friday, September 27. Senior student Sudem Ömer thanked all participants for their contributions. Speeches of encouragement followed from School Parents’ Association President Şerife Mustafaoğlu, Board of Trustees President Ozan Ahmetoğlu, İskeçe Turkish Union President Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, WTMUGA President Hüseyin Baltacı, Regional Council Member Fatih İsmailko, MPs Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek, as well as Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe and Chair of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board.
Consul General Attends
On the second day, Saturday, September 28, activities continued from morning until 10 p.m. Among the visitors were Türkiye’s Consul General in Gümülcine, Aykut Ünal, and his wife, İlayda Ünal, who met with students and extended their best wishes.
Thanks and Future Events
The Board of Trustees and the Parents’ Association expressed gratitude to all institutions, representatives, parents, and supporters who contributed to the fair, congratulating the students for their successful efforts.
The traditional fair not only supports students financially but also serves as a source of motivation before graduation, strengthening community bonds of solidarity and sharing.
Upcoming fairs are scheduled in Mustafçova on October 5, Şahin on October 11, and Ketenlik on October 12.
