The book of "İbrahim Şerif: A Story of Stuggle" presented in Komotini
The book "İbrahim Şerif; Bir Mücadelenin Hikayesi," which tells the life and struggle of Gümülcine Mufti and President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board, İbrahim Şerif, was introduced in Komotini.
The book, written by Dr. Hüseyin Bostancı and published by the Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ), was introduced on Monday, November 18, at the Cultural Center of the Western Thrace High School Graduates Association in Komotini.
The introduction event was moderated by Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the Xanthi Turkish Union and journalist. Prior to the presentation, Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa and Turkey's Consul General in Gümülcine Aykut Ünal gave greeting speeches.
Mufti Trampa and Consul General Ünal highlighted that İbrahim Şerif's life and struggle provide an exemplary reflection of the rights struggle of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish minority, and they congratulated those who brought this valuable work to the Western Thrace Turks, expressing their gratitude.
Following the speeches, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, the moderator, shared that he read the book with great enthusiasm and pleasure, thoroughly analyzing it. He emphasized that every event described in the book carries messages for future generations. Ahmetoğlu also noted the importance of every photo in the last chapter, stating that each photo tells a story and serves as a historical document.
The author of the book, Dr. Hüseyin Bostancı, provided information about the writing process of the book. He thanked everyone who trusted him and Mufti İbrahim Şerif during the creation of the book and acknowledged the significant contribution of BAKEŞ's General Manager, Dr. Pervin Hayrullah. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the preparation of the work.
Finally, the hero of the book, Mufti İbrahim Şerif, spoke about the creation of the book, its content, and his lifelong service to the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, sharing examples of his struggles for minority rights. He thanked Dr. Hüseyin Bostancı, BAKEŞ, and all those who contributed to the book's publication.
The event concluded with participants having their books signed by Mufti İbrahim Şerif.
The book presentation event was attended by Turkey’s Consul General in Gümülcine Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa, Xanthi MP Burhan Baran, President of the DEB Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, President of BTAYTD Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union Sedat Hasan, former Mayor of Mustafçova Cemil Kabza, representatives of minority institutions, and many fellow citizens.
