The administration does not allow the parents of Xanthi Central Turkish Primary School to organise bazaars at the school

The Directorate of Primary Education of Xanthi does not allow the Parent-Teacher Association and the Council of the Xanthi Central Turkish Primary School to organise a bazaar at the school.

While the recent efforts to improve the relations between Greece and Turkey in a friendly manner continue, the arbitrary practices of the Primary Education Directorate of Xanthi continue to undermine these relations. The Directorate of Primary Education does not allow the activities that the Xanthi Central Turkish Primary School Parent-Teacher Association and the Board of Councillors want to organise at the school.

The administration did not allow the talks for parents to be organised in the past days, and this time they did not allow the 6th grade bazaar, which was traditionally organised until last year.

Until last year, the same administration allowed or did not prevent the PTA from organising events such as talks and bazaars at the school. The attitude of the Primary Education Directorate, which made a U-turn this year, is incomprehensible. In the neighbouring Rhodope province, a similar event was organised in Idadiye Minority Primary School and the PTA of Idadiye did not have any permission problems.

Kermes will take place in the garden of Çınar Mosque

The Primary Directorate of Xanthi did not allow the organisation of the bazaar in the garden of the school and it was decided to organise it in the garden of Çınar Mosque.

In a joint statement made by the Xanthi Central Turkish Primary School Parent-Teacher Association together with the Board of Councillors on its social media account, it was announced that the traditional bazaar will be held on Saturday 9 March at 12:00 in the garden of Çınar Mosque.

The statement is as follows:

"The date and place of our school's traditional 6th grade bazaar has been announced. Every year we organise the bazaar in the garden of our school, but unfortunately this year we cannot organise it in our garden due to the problems of getting and giving permission. We are waiting for you, our valuable people, to the garden of Çınar mosque on Saturday, 9 March, because of the permissions that we are entitled to but not given."
