Tender announced for upgrading Kipi border station in Evros

The tender process for the €13 million upgrade of the Kipi border Station in Evros has commenced, following the amendment of the strategic importance agreement between Interior Minister Theodoros Livanios and the Secretary of Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace, Dr. Ioannis Savvas. The project aims to modernize the road border station at Kipi, Evros.

The deadline for bid submissions is February 10, 2025. After the contractor is selected, the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace, as the implementing body, will oversee the coordination and supervision of the construction and technological upgrades.

The Kipi station upgrade marks the first step in a broader overhaul of the country’s main entry and exit points, as outlined by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the 2025 government review. The Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace stated that the project aims to significantly enhance the quality of service for travelers at border checkpoints, boosting economic and tourist activity in Northern Greece. The administration emphasized that this initiative represents the optimal use of taxpayer funds, as highlighted by the prime minister.
