SYRIZA condemns racist group’s attack on a child in Komotini

The Rodopi Regional Organization of the SYRIZA Party issued a statement following the publication of a video showing a young child in Komotini being threatened by a racist group. The party expressed that the footage caused "shock and disgust."
"Shocking and Disgusting" Incident
The statement, referencing a report and video shared on the news website efsyn.gr, detailed the incident where a 10-year-old child was intimidated and threatened by a group of fascists. The group reportedly forced the child to chant "Long live Kasidiaris," a phrase associated with far-right ideology.
The SYRIZA statement highlighted:
“Five years after the conviction of Golden Dawn, those nostalgic for Hitler are trying to regain power with the tolerance of the government. The footage published by efsyn.gr depicting the threats and intimidation of a young child in Komotini is shocking and repulsive. Progressive forces must build an unwavering wall of democracy against intolerance, racism, and fascism.”
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about the resurgence of far-right groups in Greece despite legal actions against such organizations in the past.
