The schools operating in Hemetli and Mehrikoz areas of Kozlukebir Municipality will be closed for two more days due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The cold weather and snowfall that started on Tuesday 9 January in the Rhodope region continues to negatively affect education in the mountainous region.

All schools operating in Hemetli and Mehrikoz areas of Kozlukebir Municipality were cancelled today due to adverse weather conditions by the decision of the mayor Erdem Hüseyin.

Due to the continuing cold weather and snowfall, Mayor Erdem Hussein has decided that kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in Hemetli and Mehrikoz districts will remain closed on Wednesday 10 January 2023 and Thursday 11 January 2023.

The mayor's decision also applies to the Üşekdere Minority Primary School in Sirkeli district.

Regarding the decision to holiday schools for two more days, the mayor made the following statement on social media:

"Due to adverse weather conditions and icing, our kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, including Hemetli Region, Mehrikoz Region and Üşekdere village, have been closed for 2 days on Wednesday 10 January 2024 and Thursday 11 January 2024."
