The noise issues caused by the operations at the Gümülcine Thermal Power Plant in the Gümülcine Industrial Zone continue to disturb the local community.

Ongoing Complaints from Residents
The high noise levels generated by the plant's activities have negatively impacted the quality of life in many nearby villages. Residents, particularly those in Yahyabeyli, Seymen, Kır Vakıf, Çay Vakıf, and Çelebiköy, have voiced their frustration over the issue.

Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet Takes Action
The Vice Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet, did not remain indifferent to the residents' complaints. He met with Evaggelos Papadimitriou, the General Manager of GEK TERNA, the company operating the plant, as well as other relevant officials, to discuss the noise issues caused by the plant's activities.

Official Statements
Following the meeting, Vice Governor Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet shared the following statement:

"I held a meeting with the General Manager of GEK TERNA, Evaggelos Papadimitriou, and other officials regarding the complaints from the residents. They assured me that the noise levels disturbing the people, especially in the villages of Yahyabeyli, Seymen, Kır Vakıf, Çay Vakıf, and Çelebiköy, are temporary. The works are expected to be completed by May. They also promised that when the plant operates at normal production capacity, the noise level will be reduced to 72 decibels (dB). If the disturbances continue during the production period, they will remain open to communication in line with the public's requests. We stand by our people in all matters."

Temporary Relief Expected by May
The announcement that the noise levels are temporary and will subside by May has offered some relief to the villagers. However, the issue of noise remains a concern for many. The officials' sensitive approach to the matter and their proposed solutions are considered an important step toward improving the quality of life in the region.
