On February 3rd, a closed-door meeting was organized by the Rodopi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to identify key issues in the region and develop a collaborative approach to their solutions.

Participants: The meeting was attended by significant figures, including regional Members of Parliament, mayors, chamber presidents, university representatives, and church officials.
Key Topics Discussed:
- Allowing heavy vehicle passage at the Nymfaia–Makaza border crossing and efforts to combat smuggling.
- Completion of the Yassıköy Dam project.
- Addressing the shortage of public sector employees.
- Completion of the Dikeila-Maronia road and acceleration of other regional road projects.
- Restructuring the Industrial Zone’s management to make it more independent.
- Activating the occupational therapy department and strengthening the university’s connection with innovation.
- Granting special privileges to the region through the "Spiti mou II" (My Home II) program.
- Ensuring that regulations on Ramsar and Natura 2000 protected areas do not hinder regional development.
Outcomes and Goals: It was emphasized that a coordinated strategy is needed for the development of Rodopi. A regional development plan similar to the "Evros Meta" model applied in Edirne will be prepared. In the upcoming period, a "rapid intervention team" will be established to apply pressure on the central government to resolve these issues.
