Ramadan welcomed with enthusiasm in Western Thrace

The Muslim Turkish community of Western Thrace has embraced the arrival of Ramadan with great enthusiasm. From Evros to Karasu, Turkish communities in the Xanthi, Rhodope, and Evros regions gathered for the first Tarawih prayer of the holy month.
The President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa, led the first Tarawih prayer at the historic Çınar Mosque (Çıplak Hüseyin Ağa Mosque) in Xanthi.
Before the prayer, Mufti Mustafa Trampa addressed the congregation, emphasizing the spiritual significance of Ramadan and encouraging the community to make the most of its blessings.
Prominent figures attended the first Tarawih Prayer
The first Tarawih prayer at Çınar Mosque saw the participation of many respected figures, including:
Ozan Ahmetoğlu – President of the Xanthi Turkish Union
Hüseyin Baltacı – President of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association
Bahri Belço – Vice President of the Friendship, Equality, and Peace Party
Fatih Türkmen – Vice President of the Xanthi Chamber of Industry and Commerce
Following the prayer led by Imam Hafız Fatih Kocaahmet, the congregation exchanged warm greetings and well-wishes, celebrating the arrival of Ramadan together.
Mufti Mustafa Trampa later shared a message on social media:
"Xanthi Çınar Mosque… We performed the first Tarawih prayer of the blessed month of Ramadan. May it be filled with blessings, inshaAllah."
The vibrant start to Ramadan in Western Thrace highlights the strong spiritual and communal bonds within the Turkish Muslim minority, reaffirming their cultural and religious traditions.
