Prayer for rain performed against fires across Western Thrace

The Turkish Minority of Western Thrace prayed for rain due to the ongoing forest fires in the region and across the country.
Comrades who came together in the mosques in Komotini and Xanthi prayed for rain after the Friday prayer for the prevention of forest fires that continue in many points.
The rain prayer in Kozlardere village mosque, which was also attended by the Consul General of Türkiye in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, was performed by İbrahim Şerif, President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Elected Mufti of Komotini.
In his speech before the prayer, Mufti Şerif announced that as the Advisory Board they will start an aid campaign for the compatriots damaged by the fires.
Şerif warned against the flood disaster that may occur due to the destruction of forests and emphasised that measures should be taken to prevent this.
Consul General Ünal also visited the villages to see the damage caused by the forest fire on the spot and conveyed his get well wishes to the cognates.
The fires, which have been raging in the country since 19 August, lost their effect on the seventh day, although they could not be completely under control.
