Özgür Ferhat: ‘Compensation amount for livestock farmers increased’
Ferhat stated that he has long expressed the inadequacy of the compensation offered to the farmers impacted by the outbreak to the authorities, and emphasized that this new regulation aims to provide significant financial support to the owners of uncertified hybrid animals, alleviating the challenges faced by producers.
In a statement from Özgür Ferhat’s political office, it was announced, “As a result of intense pressure, it has been disclosed that an increase in compensation for uncertified animals will be implemented under the Joint Ministerial Decision signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food and sent to the Ministry of Finance. This new regulation aims to provide substantial financial support to the owners of uncertified hybrid animals, alleviating the challenges faced by producers.”
According to the new regulations resulting from Özgür Ferhat’s dedicated efforts:
- Compensation for female hybrid animals will rise from €100 in 2023 to €220.
- Compensation for male hybrid animals will increase from €100 to €320.
- Compensation for purebred (pedigree certified) female animals will go up from €150 to €250, and for purebred male animals, from €250 to €500.
- Welcoming the new regulation as a positive development, Özgür Ferhat concluded his remarks by stating, “This step shows that the voices of our producers have been heard and their rights recognized.
However, our struggle does not end here; we will continue to advocate for and support the rights of the people of Rodopi both inside and outside the parliament.”
