Özgür Ferhat calls for disclosure of EU funds allocated to Rhodope

Özgür Ferhat, a member of the Greek Parliament representing Rhodope, has submitted a parliamentary question calling for detailed information on funding allocated to the region under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, as well as the projects supported through these resources.

Ferhat addressed his request to the ministers of Finance and Rural Development and Food, asking the government to disclose how much funding has been transferred to Rhodope to date and how the resources have been used.

Highlighting Rhodope's position as a border region with significant development needs, Ferhat called for greater transparency regarding the allocation and implementation of EU-backed funding in the area.

His parliamentary question seeks detailed information on projects supported through the Recovery and Resilience Facility, including their budgets, implementing institutions and current levels of completion.

Particular attention was given to projects in agriculture, rural development and infrastructure, with Ferhat requesting a comprehensive breakdown of initiatives financed through the fund and the resources allocated to each project.

Ferhat also called for all relevant official documents to be submitted to the Hellenic Parliament, arguing that public access to information on the use of government and EU resources is essential for transparency and democratic accountability.

“The people of Rhodope have the right to know what resources have been allocated to our region and which investments these resources have been transformed into,” Ferhat said.

According to the lawmaker, his parliamentary intervention aims to establish which projects have received funding, to what extent the allocated resources have been utilized and what stage the investments have reached.

The request comes amid broader efforts to monitor the distribution and implementation of EU recovery funds at the regional level, particularly in areas facing heightened development challenges.
