Ova Women’s Branch hosts evening of unity and solidarity in Western Thrace
The Ova Women’s Branch, operating under the Kirkoy Culture, Education and Sports Association, held its traditional “Tea Evening” event, bringing together women from across the Ova region in a warm atmosphere marked by strong participation and enthusiasm.
The event highlighted the importance of increasing the visibility of Western Thrace Turkish women in social life, strengthening solidarity, and reinforcing community bonds. It was widely viewed as an initiative centered on social cohesion and collective benefit.
Among those attending were Şerife Mustafa, wife of İskeçe MP Hüseyin Zeybek; Gülsüm Hüseyin, spokesperson for the Western Thrace Turkish Women’s Platform; İpek Salihoğlu, Central Executive Board member of the FEP Party; Sevgi Sezai, head of the Women’s Branch of the İskeçe Turkish Union; Aslı Ali, head of the Women’s Branch of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union; Sevil Şerifoğlu, vice president of the İskeçe Province Turkish Women’s Association; Aylan Küçük, president of the Hanımeli Association; Rafiye Uç, head of the Women’s Branch of the Yassıören Sports, Culture and Education Association; as well as many women from the Ova region.
Following welcoming speeches, the program continued with informative talks on health issues. Cardiologist Dr. Mümin Hüseyin and Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Kenan Gagalı delivered presentations focusing on key aspects of women’s health, which were met with strong interest and engagement from participants.
Later in the evening, students from the Kirkoy Music Course, operating under the İskeçe Turkish Union, performed a musical recital. The performances by both young and adult students received enthusiastic applause from the audience. The event concluded with an open buffet reception.
Representatives of the Ova Women’s Branch expressed their gratitude to music instructor Merve Kara, the guest doctors for their valuable contributions, and all attendees. They emphasized that similar initiatives bringing together Western Thrace Turkish women in social, cultural and educational settings will continue to be organized in the future.
The gathering was remembered as a meaningful example of unity and solidarity, reinforcing the role of Western Thrace Turkish women in community life.
